Austrian Wine 2023
Welcome to the Austrian Wine Page on WineAlign!
This is your gateway to the best Austrian wines currently available in Ontario. From the terraces of the Danube Valley to the steep hills of Styria, the field blends of Vienna to the sun-drenched Burgenland, Austria has plenty to offer from one of the highest percentages of organically-farmed vineyards in the world. Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, and Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent are just some of the specialties to discover.
With the support of the Austrian Wine Marketing Board, WineAlign has created this comprehensive portal to Austrian wines in Ontario, complete with the WineAlign crü’s list of independently reviewed and recommended wines. This list will be updated as new wines come into the market. For your convenience, we’ve split the reviews into wines available at the LCBO and those available directly from one of the many wine importing agencies in Ontario (available by the case, or as part of a mixed case). For this launch we tasted over 50 Austrian wines currently available; click on the links below to discover the best.

NB: for the widest selection of Austrian wines in the province, head to the special LCBO Central Europe destination store at 3020 Elmcreek Rd. (Dundas & Mavis) in Mississauga. Many of the wines in the Destination Collections are not at your local LCBO store, but they can generally be ordered online through the LCBO’s website for local delivery or to a store near you.

This feature was commissioned by Austrian Wine Marketing Board. As a regular feature, WineAlign tastes wines submitted by a single winery, agent or region. Our writers independently, as always, taste, review and rate the wines — good, bad and indifferent, and those reviews are posted on WineAlign. We then independently recommend wines to appear in the article. Wineries, wine agents, or regions pay for this service. Ads for some wines may appear at the same time, but the decision on which wines to put forward in our report, and its content, is entirely up to WineAlign.
