Macrostie's Wildcat Mountain Vineyard lies in the Sonoma Coast AVA very near to Carneros, a small, rocky volcanic outcrop that has consistently produced the portfolio's best wines in my view. Naturally low yielding vines give wines of intense flavour, and the 2011 is particularly rich and fruity, satisfying and balanced. It's a wine for fans of larger scale chardonnay to be sure, but it's very well done with a measure of balancing salinity and stony flavour. Tasted January 2015. J. Szabo (WineAlign.com)
