The Richard Dinner Vineyard on Sonoma Mountain has been in the Hobbs Winery portfolio since its founding in 1991 (replanted in 1994), a site with northern exposure and layers of volcanic tuff. Harvested at a modest 24º brix, wild barrel fermented with spontaneous malolactic and bottled unfined and unfiltered, this is a hazy, ultra rich and creamy, full bodied and amazingly concentrated but balanced wine, with a totally beguiling texture. Flavours stay in the ripe orchard fruit spectrum, with honeyed and floral nuances. This is the sort of wine you can cosy up to on cold winter's nights, preferably with some lobster-based dish, equally rich and creamy. Outstanding length, finishing on saline notes. Tasted January 2015.
