This is a very pretty, fragrant zinfandel with a bloom of lilac, sweet brambleberry, black peppery and twiggy notes. Honest, unadulterated zinfandel. It’s medium weight, soft and nicely balanced despite some obvious sweetness. Fine tea-like tannin, juicy acidity and flavours on the finish. Very good to excellent length, with some licorice. And no cocoa - thank God no cocoa – the bane of modern zinfandels. Score: 89 (David Lawrason, WineAlign.com, July 2013)
