Christopher Waters

Christopher Waters is the wine and spirits writer for The Globe and Mail. He is a WSET-certified instructor who completed the WSET diploma in 2017.
Prior to joining The Globe in 2019, he served 21 years as co-founder and editor of Canada’s largest-circulation wine magazine, VINES, (founded in 1998) and as the author of a nationally syndicated column, Waters & Wine (established in May 2000.) Previously, he was an arts and entertainment reporter at The St. Catharines Standard and assistant editor at the music and entertainment monthly, Exclaim Magazine.
Waters has been an instructor at the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute, Brock University, since 2004 and is an internationally recognized wine judge. He also was as head judge and organizer of the InterVin International Wine Awards from 2009 to 2019 and has served as the Canadian judge of the Global Fine Wine Challenge ever since this country’s wines entered the Sydney, Australia-based competition in 2017 (formerly known at the Six Nations Challenge.) Waters is also a highly sought-after moderator and consultant.
